Matthew Smith

Pastoral Team Leader
Matthew was born and raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute, Clarks Summit University (B.S. in Bible), and Baptist Bible Seminary (M.Div.).
In 1992, he married Cathy, and God blessed them with three sons. Matthew enjoys the outdoors: hiking, hunting, and riding horses.
Matthew became Pastoral Team Leader of Faith in 1999. He also serves the community as police chaplain for both Cortland County Sheriff’s Department and Cortland City Police Department.
Matthew’s passion is to lead Faith in the process of making more and becoming better followers of Jesus Christ.

Steve Thompson

Pastor of Discipleship Ministries
Steve was born in Olean, NY and grew up in Jamestown, NY. He graduated from Clarks Summit University with a degree in Bible and Elementary Education. He taught at a Christian school for three years and then went to Baptist Bible Seminary to complete his Master of Divinity degree.
Steve and Julie met in college and married in 1987. They have a busy house with three young adult daughters and one teen son. God directed them to spend 15 years in Durban, South Africa before returning to pastor in the States. Steve joined the pastoral team in August of 2012.

Josh Mowers

Student Ministries Intern
Josh grew up in Capetown, South Africa where he served with his missionary parents, learning all about starting churches. Upon returning to the States he attended Clarks Summit University and graduated with a degree in youth ministry. He spent the last couple years serving in Preble, NY.
Josh and Katy joined our team in August of 2016, just before they got married. Josiah made them a family of three in September 2017.
